I actually liked this update for making John so grating and immature(ironically in his attempt to seem more mature). I’ve been seeing more posts about John’s dialogue and people realizing that he can be quite the ass, and I think this update may make a lot of people also realize that’s he’s not the pure angel fandom makes him out to be.
I like that Jade realizes that Dave’s different experiences makes him a different person, even if he’s still “Dave”. And also Jade/Davesprite may be kinda canon??? Omg, that is too cute. ;u; Lots of people make sadstucks about Davesprite and the alt timeline with John’s death, but I haven’t seen a lot of people discussing how he felt knowing Jade was going to die with no way to help her? I think about it a lot because I love sadstuck and how tragic a character Davesprite is. But if he and Jade really do have something(kindasorta)? That would be like…so painfully adorable, and I know nobody “deserves” to have someone, but Davesprite deserves more lovin’ from characters in-comic and definitely from someone who notices that he is different from the other Dave.

So I think this is all a setup by Hussie for some last minute angst+development for John. I was thinking about how little character development John has had, and how we’ve never seen him really react to any of the tragedy that he’s witnessed. He may be repressing it or trying to act like a little grown-up who’s so past all that stuff that happened, because it can’t be that he’s really that shallow right? And I’m guessing that Vriska will be what triggers this development, and he’ll realize that even if it was only one day that doesn’t mean everyhting that happened wasn’t meaningful.
Also boo John, I hope dead!John goes out on a date with Vriska and you feel really bad about it. >:(
